This workshop is for the studio artist who would appreciate guidance in exploring the open-air experience. Gay will explain and demonstrate solutions to the challenges posed by plein air painting. Topics will include which equipment works best, how to choose a time and location, how to secure your work in various weather conditions and other tips and tricks that will benefit the artist who is ready to explore painting outside the studio. BIOGRAPHY:
Gay studied Fine Arts at the Green Mountain College and the University of Connecticut; and from 1991 – 1997 at the Cape Cod School of Art; followed by five years of private study under Peter Granucci. Gay’s paintings are in collections in Sweden, Mexico, Canada, and the U.S. In 2001 the producers of Virginia’s Run commission 12 paintings for the film. “I have always been over-whelmed by the beauty of the world around us, and all I’ve ever wanted to be is an artist. It’s been a journey of discovery to learn how to paint. How exciting it is to never stop learning.”
