White sand dunes

The white sand dunes are home to many interesting plants and pioneer species. As well as a number of interesting seabirds the dunes have on occasion hosted the rare piping plover.

Rugged beauty

The beach is often forgotten in the winter, but at this time of year it is a breathtaking, unique vista that is unequaled elsewhere in Shelburne County.

One of Canada's Best Kept Secrets!

The Crescent Beach is a large barrier extending across a portion of Allendale Bay. It is over a kilometer long and was featured on the Canadian $50 bill in the 1950's. Because it is the chief sediment sink in the Ragged Islands area, it is comprised of fine, white sand, much to the delight of its many visitors.

A beach with a history

Lockeport has long been a popular tourist destination, with hotels and beach resorts comprising a large portion of the town in the late 1800's. It has since settled down, with fishing reasserting itself as the town's main industry. However, the beaches that made the town so popular in the 1800's have remained unchanged.
